WOBURN, MA– September 28, 2011 – Axceler, the leader in Microsoft SharePoint governance, administration and migration software, todayintroduced the latest release of ControlPoint, its award-winning management product for SharePoint.  ControlPoint 4.5 provides significant new benefits to those responsible for governing their SharePoint environments both on premise and in the cloud.  ControlPoint 4.5 enables managers to automatically prevent non-compliant activities; manage SharePoint in Office 365; make better decisions with intuitive dashboards; and clean up their environments before and after their migration.  Axceler will demonstrate the product next week at Booth # 530 at the Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2011, from October 3-6 at the Anaheim Convention Center.  ControlPoint 4.5 will be available in early Q4 2011.

“SharePoint governance is not just about products, but about a broad process that involves effective policy management at multiple levels of an organization.  And just as SharePoint continues to evolve, ControlPoint’s capabilities have expanded to help our customers improve all aspects of their SharePoint governance,” said Michael Alden, Axceler’s president and CEO.  “Enterprises are looking to solve specific SharePoint governance problems and want the flexibility to choose the best solutions available in the market.  Therefore our focus continues to be helping organizations gain control over their SharePoint environments using our award-winning products and leveraging our community of expert partners.”

ControlPoint offers benefits for SharePoint deployments of all sizes:

  • Enforces SharePoint governance automatically, thanks to new governance capabilities that enable organizations to enforce policies rather than scramble to repair out-of-control environments.
  • Delivers SharePoint governance for Office 365 for those enterprises that have moved all or part of their SharePoint environment to the cloud.
  • Enables better SharePoint decisionswith new customizable dashboard reporting capabilities that let anyone from business owners to CXOs evaluate KPIs.
  • Improves the focus and agility of the SharePoint management team, by alleviating the emphasis on administrative tasks and automating governance tasks before costly damage can occur.
  • Boosts SharePoint’s value, by removing administrative obstacles, to lower the total cost of ownership and increase adoption.
  • Avoids security breaches and their associated costs, by automatically notifying managers of non-compliant security changes and providing recommendations for permissions cleanup.
  • Increases end-user adoption, by identifying unused or unsuccessful sites and improving their value to end users.
  • Reduces demands on the SharePoint infrastructure, with fewer people, software and hardware necessary to provide greater control for ongoing deployments.

“Having proactive control to prevent unauthorized events would make a huge impact on the benefits of SharePoint at multiple levels within any organization,” said Christine Thompson, IT Services Manager, NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney Primary Care Trust, which buys healthcare services for some 230,000 U.K. residents. “This would be a major step forward in managing complex SharePoint environments.”
