Rhondda Cynon Taff CBC opted to utilise the flexibility of an existing Contensis license for its main web presence, having realised this meant no compromise on functionality.
The Council's Web team were able to design and deploy the new site with only minor assistance from Contensis, and can now boast a multi-lingual site with full Local Government Navigation List (LGNL) compliance.
They have been able to deliver GIS integration across the interface, build complete linkage with their Google Mini implementation (including auto-suggest search) and provide full online availability of Council meeting agendas and minutes.
Rhondda Cynon Taf's Web Manager, Darcy Smith, explained: "Because Contensis essentially produces a .NET published website, anything you could do in Visual Studio can be done with Contensis - no limitations! From the complexities of integrating with CRM systems, mapping systems, custom databases, all the way through to being in control of every aspect of a page's design, Contensis CMS allows you to do it."
The new Contensis-based site replaces Stellent as the Council’s main CMS and has allowed the Web team to meet its exact functionality requirements. The new site is now live and the Web team are looking forward to expanding on what they have already achieved, including further user personalization and transactional service provision.
Contensis puts great emphasis on the user-friendliness of its interface for content managers and with its latest release, R6, even puts tools at their fingertips to drop-in pre-styled rich media without the need to call on designers.
Chief technical officer at Contensis, Richard Chivers, said: "We have been very impressed with the approach of the team at Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC, they have utilized many of the standard features of Contensis out of the box, giving them the time to really refine and perfect their bespoke integrations."
