Quoting IT: The Danger of Status Quo

"The last thing you want your IT department to be is a joke because you waited too long to make changes. The easiest thing in the world to do is to play it safe, but it's probably not the best strategy for your professional development or the bottom line of your organization. You have to push new technologies that are going to propel your company forward or you risk being the IT equivalent of a company that waited too long to move to the next generation of technology."

    - Ron Miller, "What your IT department could learn from Sony's disruption", CITEworld, May 17, 2013.

  • Quoting IT: Data encryption is not enough

Quoting IT: Data encryption is not enough

"Disk encryption, which encrypts every bit of data on a hard drive, is a good additional level of defense. However, unless biometric or smart-card authentication is used on the device, it is simply one more password for a hacker or thief to crack."

     - Greg Crowe, "After theft, NASA orders laptops encrypted, but is that enough?", GCN.com, November 16, 2012

Quoting IT: CMS Selections Involve Marketing and IT

  • CIO: Will Cloud Computing Kick the IT Door in for Women?

CIO: "Cloud computing presents an opportunity for women who are not as heavily focused on the architectural design, and how bits and bytes move through the organization, says JJ DiGeronimo, a veteran of IT and director of global cloud solutions at VMware. Well still need women who are technical, but cloud provides the chance to also champion ideas and work cross-functionally to define how IT is delivered to business. Skills, she believes, are a strong suit of many women."

  • I purchased the Google Nexus 7 tablet

What Google is doing these days excites me and that excitement is why my money has landed on the Google Nexus 7. I know what Apple is doing these days, I understand what Amazon is trying to do. But Google is innovating so fast now that I'm not even sure Google knows where they are at today nor where they're going tomorrow. That element of venturing into the unknown is what excites me about Google. I feel like I'm on an adventure with Google and which is why I happily choose the Google Nexus 7 as my very first tablet.
