Drupal 6.5 and 5.11 released

Drupal 6.5 and Drupal 5.11 were released yesterday.  These new versions of Drupal are maintenance releases fixing problems reported using the bug tracking system, as well as critical security vulnerabilities.  If you take a look at the release notes, you'll find that Drupal's core developers and security teams have been hard at work improving this open source content management system.  With all the hard work done for you, it only makes sense to upgrade your Drupal site today (yes, we're running Drupal 6.5).

Details and download links can be found at Drupal.org.

Can you combine Drupal 6.5

Can you combine Drupal 6.5 with another open source platform to create a site that has CMS feature such as those for an online magazine and Social Networking features such as individual customized page designs, user communication, etc.?

Thanks.

Drupal mashups

I was hoping someone would respond, but I suppose I'll be the one.  Of coursse Drupal mashups are possible.  There are a host of Drupal contributed modules that offer third-party integration.

Personally, I would recommend using modules that offer the features within Drupal's framework instead of bridging to non-Drupal applications.  In the long run, I think most people are happy.  For example, for a Digg like site, take a look at Drigg. Something like MySite may offer a path to personal pages.
