Leading digital asset management software vendor, Daydream, have announced a public beta release of their DAM system, FocusOPEN under an AGPL open source licence, providing a tried-and-tested, fully featured .NET DAM system to more businesses at zero cost or risk.

London, UK, 14th September, 2010. Leading digital asset management vendor, Daydream, have announced a public beta release of their .NET open source digital asset management system, FocusOPEN under an Affero General Public (AGPL) open source licence.  Offering a public release marks a strategic change for Daydream, who have been providing high-end enterprise digital asset management software to corporations worldwide since 1995.

"Although traditionally we have concentrated solely on the enterprise tier of the DAM market, we found increasing demand for our software and services from smaller businesses and creative agencies.  We always offered our software with an open source licence, but until now we avoided a public distribution because our service delivery operations were oriented towards the needs of our enterprise clients.  Therefore, prior to a full public release, we made significant investments into our support infrastructure to ensure that the user experience is a positive one." said Ralph Windsor, Managing Director of Daydream.

"The Open Source (AGPL) Edition of FocusOPEN provides a ‘tried-and-tested’ fully featured DAM system derived from our existing enterprise product that users can download from our website without charge.  It has many of the features of its enterprise counterpart such as a dedicated asset transcoding server, embedded metadata support, multi-branding, full text search, faceted search, taxonomies, asset permissions and workflow for usage management as well as ingestion." Windsor continues.

FocusOPEN is the only fully supported .NET open source DAM system available and promises to radically shake up this segment of the digital asset management market, which has hitherto been characterised by a limited selection of expensive and proprietary solutions.  Daydream have set up a dedicated product website with a range of community support facilities.  All registered users are provided with their own account where they can also manage additional service subscriptions.

"We have a package of associated services like hosting, SaaS, priority support and consulting.  Users can also take advantage of some fantastic early bird offers, including sizeable discounts on any paid for services they might need to help them implement FocusOPEN in their organisation."

Daydream also plan to reach out to the developer community and channel partners with the FocusOPEN Developer Network and a reseller programme.  A public Commercial Edition is also planned for release shortly after the Open Source edition leaves the beta phase at the end of September 2010.

For further information, to trial or to download FocusOPEN Open Source (AGPL) Edition, visit the product website at http://www.digitalassetmanager.com or contact Daydream's  sales team on +44(0) 20 7096 1471.

BOSTON, February 4, 2010--Nuxeo, the Open Source Enterprise Content Management (ECM) company, announced today the general availability of its open source Digital Asset Management offering Nuxeo DAM.

Nuxeo DAM is the latest application based on the Nuxeo open source ECM platform, Nuxeo EP. Nuxeo DAM addresses the complex and resource-intensive demands of managing the rich media assets that companies rely on. Designed to meet the creative and ever-changing needs of marketing and brand managers, as well as the custodians of digital artifacts in education, government, military and cultural institutions, Nuxeo's digital asset management software opens up new opportunities for the creators, users and consumers of rich media to take control of their critical image, video or audio content.

According to Nuxeo CEO Eric Barroca:

Nuxeo DAM has the same high level of flexibility as its underlying platform - Nuxeo EP - thanks to its extension-point, plug-in infrastructure. Thus, Nuxeo DAM can be adapted and customized to create a new kind of media-intensive content application matching ever-evolving business and creative needs.

Nuxeo DAM is the first application of its kind to meet the currently available draft of the OASIS Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) specification. Nuxeo, along with many other industry leaders such as Microsoft, IBM, and Adobe Systems, is involved with CMIS. CMIS is a proposed standard for interoperability across multiple ECM and web content management systems that is expected to be approved this year. Nuxeo EP, as the underlying ECM platform offering from Nuxeo, includes a CMIS Server, based on the latest CMIS specification, ensuring that packaged applications such as Nuxeo DAM and Nuxeo DM benefit from the interoperability enhancements.
