BusinessWeek: A new survey shows growth across the country, with higher-than-average pay. And with the number of tech grads falling, demand will only rise.
"Men are making more
money than women in technology jobs, about 12% more than they did last
year, according to a salary survey by career site Dice.com.
The
survey found that salaries for men increased by 2.4% in 2007 but stayed
flat for women. The average salary last year for men was $76,582, and
for women, it was $67,507, according to Dice. The gap widened last
year: In 2006, the difference between salaries paid to men and women
was 9.7%."
"CIOs looking to hire skilled IT professionals will pay, on average, 5.3 percent more in 2008 than they did this year, according to the just-released Robert Half Technology's 2008 IT Salary Guide. As a comparison, the Consumer Price Index rose 2.8 percent this past year."
