Last week, CMS Report received an email regarding a new CMS that focuses on managing multimedia content. The application is written in Python so naturally we're going to talk to let our readers know about this new platform.

I'm not sure if you guys have covered this yet, but as a regular reader of cmsreport.com I thought I would let you know.
Earlier this month my company launched a new Open Source python based CMS focused on video and podcasting.

http://getmediacore.com/

MediaCore is a free open source video cms and podcast platform.  MediaCore can pull video or audio from any source, track statistics, enable commenting, and provide a high degree of control over the presentation and administration.

Let me know if you guys need any further information on the project. Right now we are just trying to get the word out about it.

Cheers,
Stuart

Drupal's Earl Miles on Lullabot Podcast

Jeff Robbins from Lullabot recently interviewed Drupal developer Earl "MerlinofChaos" Miles for an audio podcast. Earl Miles is the lead developer for some of the more popular contributed modules found at Drupal.org. The podcast focuses on his Drupal module work which includes Views, Panels, and Node Queue. Jeff Robbins also managed to ask some non-Drupal questions in the 88 minute recording that I found just as fascinating. Personally, I always enjoy opportunities to get to know more about the developers behind the software I'm using.

For the record, I'm not much of a podcast listener but I found myself listening to the entire recording this afternoon. Both Jeff and Earl have a good sense of humor that keeps you wanting for more. It also helps that both speakers have a genuine interest in Drupal and software development. So while you're reading some very fine articles here at CMS Report, I'd encourage you to also encourage you to start up the Lullabot podcast.

Innovating Tomorrow: Building a Podcast Site in 20 Hours

This is so cool. I'm not talking about using Drupal to build a podcast site (though that is cool too). I think what is even more cool is cool whenever someone gives you a nice what-to-use list if you would like to build something similar to what they have already built. Given the numerous contributed modules that you can select for Drupal, tips such as these are very helpful. Thanks Matt.

Innovating Tomorrow: Building a Podcast Site in 20 Hours -

Drupal makes building websites easy. I was reminded just how much this is true when Bob and I recently built the website for the Super Average Podcast. From the start of the design to the finished product being ready to launch we spent about a total of 20 man hours. And, while we sometimes complain about some of the ways we have to bend over backwards when theming a drupal site (this is greatly improved in the next drupal release), spending only 20 hours to create this site definitely says something. Let's take a look at some of the modules we used that made this so easy.
