After over 25,000 downloads of its previous version in just three short months, the XOOPS Project, one of world’s leading Open Source CMS (Content Management System), is aggressively building on this success and has released a new version of its award winning software – XOOPS 2.3.3.
This release focused on bug fixes and usability improvements. Some of the major changes are:
improved profile and pm modules
improved installer
improved theme
improved tinymce editor
The improved installer is the highlight of this release, providing an easy way to install not only the program, but also important modules. The key for this new release was an active collaboration of XOOPS developers from around the world: China, France, UK, USA, Germany, Peru, Libya, Belgium, Netherlands, and several others. The worldwide XOOPS community is one of its strength, resulting in a quick translation of new releases into over 20 languages.
ImpressCMS 1.1.2 was released over the weekend. Improvements and new additions to ImpressCMS since 1.1.1 was released include:
SMARTY was updated to the latest version - 2.6.22
Password encryption method can only be changed if the site is open and allows you to access the reset password page
Database factory improvement providing more protection against SQL injections when Protector 3.30+ is installed
SimplePie RSS generator
Updated HTMLPurifier Library from 3.2.0 to 3.3.0
New users should download the latest full version, users who already have a XOOPS or ImpressCMS site should get the latest upgrade packages. More details can be found at the project's Website.

Wordpress.org: WordPress 2.5, the culmination of six months of work by the WordPress
community, people just like you. The improvements in 2.5 are numerous,
and almost entirely a result of your feedback: multi-file uploading,
one-click plugin upgrades, built-in galleries, customizable dashboard,
salted passwords and cookie encryption, media library, a WYSIWYG that
doesn’t mess with your code, concurrent post editing protection,
full-screen writing, and search that covers posts and pages.
I briefly wanted to mention that the stable release of Joomla! 1.5 has finally arrived! Needless to say, there are some very happy people in the open source community to see this version of the content management system go gold.
I haven't taken a serious look at Joomla! 1.5 since Beta 1 and Beta 2 were out the door. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to taking a look at the finished product over the course of the next few weeks. Until then, below is a brief glimpse from the announcement at Joomla.org of what you can expect from version 1.5.
Last week, Plone 3.0 was released. Plone is the infamous content management system that runs on the Python-based Zope application server. The install of Plone is known to be very easy with Plone, Python, and Zope already packaged together in the installer.
Highlights to the new features/improvements in Plone 3.0 that the Plone team would like to stress via their announcement are listed below. I provided links to further details on those features I thought needed a better explanation or were just too exciting to leave alone.
