Bitrix and Parallels Announce Partnership to Deliver SaaS Applications
Parallels, Inc., one of the world’s largest providers of virtualization and automation software, has partnered with Bitrix, Inc., a pioneer in the development of Content Management Systems and Portal Solutions. Parallel’s pioneering open Application Packaging Standard, also called APS™ has certified Bitrix applications. This allows any Bitrix application to integrate seamlessly into hosting environments and deliver SaaS solutions. The new SaaS solution dramatically reduces Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for businesses ranging from Startups to Enterprise level.
With more than 200 SaaS-applications available, the new Bitrix SaaS offerings will give the end-user an option to not purchase the application, but use the application as they need to when they need to. This ‘On Demand’ service will become a significant cost saver for users.
Certification with the APS program opens a new service model for independent software vendors like Bitrix by allowing them to serve their next generation applications through the web platforms of major worldwide service providers. The program also opens new opportunities in emerging markets and helps tap into core industry verticals that have been shy to adopt such technologies. In the present economic climate, businesses are seriously considering the value of of SaaS applications and how reducing TCO is a powerful option to increase bottomline.
3 versions of the Bitrix Site Manager were certified and added to the APS Certified Catalog: Start, Standard and Ultimate. Bitrix Site Manager – Start Edition is ideally suited for any small scale web based business. The Edition enables users to easily create website pages and sections, publish news, articles and directories, and assign access rights to the site content. Bitrix Site Manager – Standard Edition is perfect for creating interactive sites with the ability to communicate with visitors on forums and blogs, to conduct surveys, create photo galleries and mail to subscribers. Bitrix Site Manager - Ultimate is a powerful tool for online business to create and manage e-stores.
The statistics of the APS Catalog show that CMS applications are one of the most commonly asked for SaaS applications. The applications give customers the opportunity to create websites and manage their content easily without any hassles. However, Parallels predicts growth in demand for Enterprise applications supporting crucial business processes - Web conferences, IP-telephony, CRM, ERP, etc. As the SaaS market matures, one of the factors facilitating this process is the growing competition between SaaS suppliers.
“The development of web projects and corporate information management systems is one of the most dynamic segments of the constantly changing IT market. This strategic alliance with Parallels will provide us with the ability to promote our services in the SaaS market. In the future, we plan to offer a similar value proposition for the Bitrix Intranet Portal,” said Sergey Rizhikov, CEO of Bitrix Inc.
According to Parallels, the key factor for this alliance is openness and independence. “The earlier software developers and service providers use the single standard for hosting and selling applications, the sooner they and their users realize the benefits of SaaS applications», says Ilya Baymetov, Technical director of the SaaS Practice, Parallels, Inc.
