CMS Wire: What's Coming In Open Source CMS In 2010

By CMS Report - Posted on 22 December 2009

"Call it our open source 2010 predictions with less guesswork and high hopes. [CMS Wire] posed a set of questions to participating open source CMS projects regarding their own plans for 2010, and their thoughts on where CMS in general is going for 2010."

Joomla!, Plone and Wordpress...Did you all sleep through Marketing 101?

#2 Open source project leaders have responsibility too

Hi Harry, it took me a few minutes to realize your comment was directed at the projects and not CMS Wire. Yes, from what I gather, the author sent out an invitation a couple weeks ago to open source projects on their plans for 2010. Besides the articles introduction, you can also read comments #3 and #5 and see that representatives from Joomla!, Plone, and WordPress apparently failed to take an interest in responding the author's questions...or at least in time for the article.

From my own experience, I rarely hear from Plone and WordPress developers or leaders and they don't seem to visit CMS Report to comment as often as I would like. Joomla! does a better job, but since they seem to be going through some growing pains it can be confusing at times who actually leads the Joomla! project.

Many of the open source project that are listed in the article, do have good marketing skills and I hear from them often. In fact, I smiled seeing ocPortal on that list since they have been doing a lot of work this year in making their small project and CMS known. Somewhat surprising to me is that SilverStripe isn't on that list as it has been my experience that they consistently respond and get involved in providing information about their CMS.

I gave up long ago trying to figure that one out. Too much drama in Joomla! for me. I have much better ways to waste my time.

End of 2009 was overwhelmingly busy for us (Plone). We will take care to be more active and give more feedback in 2010. Promise.

Thanks for the comment Geir. We're looking forward to hearing good things about Plone in 2010.
