By Duanesm - Posted on 10 October 2008

Packt is pleased to announce a new book on designing skins for a MediaWiki website. Written by web designer Richard Carter, MediaWiki Skins Design teaches the users how to customize the appearance of their MediaWiki site by creating custom skins.

Wikis are a great way to collaborate and share knowledge online. MediaWiki is a popular and powerful wiki engine, powering some of the biggest wiki sites in the world – including Wikipedia, the biggest and most famous wiki of all.

This book takes users through customizing their MediaWiki skin. It is full of practical examples of MediaWiki skinning techniques, and provides a clear explanation of how MediaWiki skinning works and the necessary template and CSS customizations required to completely alter MediaWiki's appearance.Web designers or wiki administrators who want to customize the look of their MediaWiki site will find this book useful. Users will learn how to change every aspect of their wiki's appearance to produce a MediaWiki site fully tailored to their requirements.

The book is out now and is available from Packt. For more information, please visit www.PacktPub.com/mediawiki-skins-design/book
