CMS User: Do not forget about CPG Dragonfly

I received an email from CPG Dragonfly CMS advocate, Dizfunkshunal. He observed that we do not cover Dragonfly here too much. Sadly, Dizfunkshunal is correct in his observation, in the past we have posted only a few articles regarding Dragonfly. How did this happen?

Articles regarding a particular content management system get posted on this site by two significant groups of people. Those two groups of people that have the power to put focus on a specific CMS are you and me. The 30 CMS that I am most impressed with today are listed on my site is the left-sidebar under "CMS Focus". This list has changed and will continue to change over time. If you want to help change that list then help persuade me either through comments or by submitting your own stories to CMSReport.com.

So let Dizfunkshunal's e-mail below be the first battle cry for getting Dragonfly back on the list. Let this battle cry also be an invitation for you to join into the fight. Feel free to submit your own CMS related articles. If you do submit a story to spread the word on a particular project, please do not make it sound like a press release. Let me give you a hint on where to start. Most people like honest and fair articles that are written to inform not to sell. I try to follow this rule and I think that is why readers keep coming back.

We now return back to the original point of this post...reasons for why we should focus more articles on Dragonfly CMS.

Hello, My Name is Carl G. aka Dizfunkshunal. I am contacting about www.Dragonflycms.org. This is a CMS that is not listed on your site. It has been around and developed for 4 years that I have been a members and many years prior to me joining.

I have used several CMS softwares (Drupal, Joomla, Vbulletin, PhpNuke, and many more) So far DragonflyCMS has topped them all. When you compare Security, Speed, Compatibility, reliability I have not found another open source project that can be compared to Dragonfly, I haven't found [] any commercial apps that can compare either. Dragonfly does not get a lot of PR. the developers spend there time developing instead of promoting.

I am checking out all the cms review site and those who do not list DragonflyCMS, I am contacting to see if [the you] will. Thank you for your time. Have a nice Day.

Carl, I can't promise Dragonfly will make my "top 30" list, but I do promise that together we will begin to cover the CMS more often. Until then, I am also curious to hear comments from other Dragonfly users on what they think about their CMS.

The Right Mix

I've been using and programming for DF for more years than I care to say. All CMS's tend to be focused in one particalr area (security, looks, modules, forum) and it can be difficult to find a single CMS to fit your every requirement but for comminity sites DF has the right mix. With a security focused core, basic or advanced forums integration, coppermine or gallery2 integration it offers a decent platform for any budding comminuty. Plus most of the common extras that community sites might want (weblinks, content, ponts systems, blogs, surveys, themes etc) are avaialble for a solid group of module and theme developers. If you're thinking about a club, gaming or social site then Dragonfly is definately worth a look.

Dragonfly Rocks

Yes I totally agree with BC and Dizfunkshunal. I have been using Dragonfly for 2 years now and have loved it ever since I started using it. It is great and the community is very supportive. My suggestion to people is to give it a try. I am sure that you won't be disappointed.

Dragonfly CMS

Dragonfly has quietly evolved over the years into a very secure full featured CMS.

CMS Report:

You really need to play around with Dragonfly a bit to understand just how good it is.

I honestly can not remember the last security fix that was needed, the devolopers are top notch code monkeys. The server resources are extremely low compared to Joomla and the php variations.

Just like the old days when you were able to run linux on anything that booted Dragonfly will run on an older server and still out preform them all.

Modules and plugins are widely available for all aspects of interests.

I have tried, used and still use about half of your "top 30" list on the leff, Dragonfly CMS is still my personal favorite.

Look forward to more Dragonfly Coverage

Will do on install

Glad to hear so many people like Dragonfly. I'll have to take a look at Dragonfly to test things out when I have some free time. I have plenty of server space...little spare time these days.

Dragonfly is first choice

For 4 years now I have been creating my own sites. I run two sites currently, an outdoors site and a wildland firefighter site. I have used many different CMS packages and have found dragonfly to meet all of my needs. My opinion is this system is the best around. I plan to stay with Dragonfly.

Still hasn't lost it potential

Hi,

I'm a developer for Dragonfly CMS and decided to create a local community site for it in 2006 (April 10 to be exact). Why?

I like Dragonfly, it has the most logical structure I have seen, or well there are some things I hate about it, but compared to other CMS'es it's just simpler... or more complicated and this makes it interesting? (This was a rhetorical question.)

I like developing for it, it all makes sense, I know every part of it's code and I'm so familiar to it, that it would be impossible to prefere Joomla or Wordpress suddenly. Well, maybe Wordpress if I would be one of the people who like the so popular blogging.

It's worth a try and playing with it couple of days won't harm you.

It has really considerable drawbacks, but for me these won't kill the positive side.
