BusinessWeek: Yahoo's Buzz
Submitted by Bryan on March 20, 2008 - 12:08amSure, Yahoo's new service is already driving almost as much traffic to outside Web articles as Digg does. But how does that help Yahoo?
Slate: The Wisdom of the Chaperones
Submitted by Bryan on March 2, 2008 - 11:52am"Social-media sites like Wikipedia and Digg are celebrated as shining examples of Web democracy, places built by millions of Web users who all act as writers, editors, and voters. In reality, a small number of people are running the show. According to researchers in Palo Alto, 1 percent of Wikipedia users are responsible for about half of the site's edits. The site also deploys bots—supervised by a special caste of devoted users—that help standardize format, prevent vandalism, and root out folks who flood the site with obscenities. This is not the wisdom of the crowd. This is the wisdom of the chaperones."
Digging with Drupal
Submitted by Bryan on December 24, 2007 - 8:34amI'm not the first one to point this out, but Wired recently contained a post discussing a Drupal module that can be used to give you a Digg-like site.
Drupal developer Tony Mobily has built a new module for Drupal which enables anyone to start up their own Digg clone. You can grab the code and contribute to the project at drigg-code.org, or you can see it in action at drigg.org.
It looks like there may be some theming challenges to overcome, but the module looks very promsing for those that wish to build a site with some of Digg's features. Personally though, I'm not so sure I'm all that fond of news voting systems. Consider me bias, but I trust the editor (that's me) at CMSReport.com to focus on all the CMS news you need to know.

Geeklog: Rating Plugin 2.0beta
Submitted by Bryan on July 26, 2006 - 4:12pm"The rating plugin 2.0beta release is now available in the downloads section on this site. This plugin allows you to add a rating, review and/or digg system to any item. You can add them with autotags, or with a slight modification to the core files. You now can display ratings a number of different ways either site wide or on an individual rating."
Complete StoryBlinklisted
Submitted by Bryan on July 18, 2006 - 6:09pmI was browsing the server logs and noticed that Blinklist referred some users to this site, CMS Report. Blinklist is similar to Digg.com, in that you rank the site. In the case of Blinklist refers not stories but entire Web sites. CMS Report is tagged at Blinklist under "cms" and you can find us clicking here. Considering that there are some strong competitors listed, you may need to scroll down the page. Feel free to blink us!
