Same version of mojoPortal supporting once again .Net and Mono

Since most of the Web applications I run these days is on PHP I will fully admit that I don't know much about .Net and Mono applications.  However, I can recognize good news when I hear that it.  mojoPortal under a new version number can once again support more both the .Net and Mono platforms.  For developers and users of mojoPortal, life just got a little simpler.

Version 2.2.2.8 of mojoPortal was released this week and not only introduces the return of Mono support but additional features as well:
  • New Multi Sites Feature based on first folder after site root
  • New Feature for Visually Partitioning Sites
  • New Editor Provider Model now supporting use of both FCKeditor and TinyMCE (WYSIWYG editors)
  • Improved Markup Semantics and CSS Organization
  • A Few New Skins
  • Movement of the Admin section
Links for downloading mojoPortal 2.2.2.8 can be found on the mojoPortal download page.

I saw this at mojoPortal.com:

The National Recycling Coalition (NRC) recently revamped their web site using mojoPortal.

The project was managed by DDB Seattle, which is part of DDB Worldwide Communications Group.

The designers did a nice job with this site. I have to admit that the mojoPortal sites are really starting to get a professional look to them. mojoPortal has come a long way since when we first started covering the news about their CMS a year ago. Go checkout mojoPortal and see for yourself.

It looks as if the world of mojoPortal keeps on expanding. Joe Audette writes:

I'm very happy to announce a new sub project to implement a Project Management Solution based on the principles of the Project Management Institute (PMI), that integrates with mojoPortal.

Thiago Alves will be the Project Manager and Lead Developer for this project.

Joe Audette: Microsoft and Novell Partnership is Great for mojoPortal

"Wow, I'm watching the webcast announcement of the partnership  between Microsoft and Novell and I'm so happy I can hardly believe it! I'm a small stakes shareholder in both companies and happy from an investment standpoint but even more excited as a technologist and developer with a long history in development in the Microsoft platform and a more recent (past several years) experience in working with Linux having been drawn in by Mono, the open source project sponsored by Novell that allows me to use my Micorsoft .NET skills on Linux."

mojoPortal Leader Devoting More Time on Project

When open source projects becomes more popular the project leaders often need to increase the time spent on their projects. The increasingly popular Windows-based content management system (CMS), mojoPortal, is no exception to this rule. mojoPortal's project leader, Joe Audette, recently announced on his blog that he is currently making career changes show he can better nurture the mojoPortal project along:

I'm still currently working full time for Integration Management of Brentwood TN until November 15. After that I will still be doing some work for them but mainly launching Source Tree Solutions so I can devote more time to advancing mojoPortal. I'm very excited and full of ideas to take mojoPortal to the next level.

In other words, with mojoPortal now getting full time attention by its developers, don't be surprised to see some surprisingly good things to evolve from this CMS.

Last summer, we did a review of mojoPortal and the article continues to remain one of CMS Report's most read article to date. While mojoPortal may not always make the headlines, make no mistake that there is strong interest in this up and coming content management system. I wish Joe Joe Audette and all those with the mojoPortal project well.

mojoPortal: Running the latest code

"I just updated this site to the latest 2.1.1 from svn for final testing before the release this weekend.

This release will include the new localization model which detects the browser language and uses resource for that language if available. So anyone visiting this site using one of the languages we currently have translations for should see the labels and buttons in their own language."

A first look at mojoPortal

A couple days ago I opened my Thunderbird e-mail client on my Windows XP system and found an e-mail from Joe Audette of the mojoPortal project. "Mojo whata?", I asked. I thought I knew most of the content management projects (CMS) projects around, but thisScreenshot of mojoPortal one didn't ring a bell. After reading his e-mail, I understood I likely have not heard much about his project because my focus on CMS has been a little too narrow lately.

In his e-mail, Audette writes, "Hi, just wondering if you only cover CMS's using php technology or if you would consider giving any press to .NET/Mono based projects? Any coverage of my project mojoPortal would be much appreciated."

As I've mentioned in past posts, I have a strong desire to cover more than just PHP Web applications. mojoPortal, named after Audette's dog, is written in C# and runs under ASP.NET on Windows or under mono on Linux or Mac. Already the talk of a CMS using a blend of Microsoft and open source tools was peaking my interest.
