WOBURN, MAAxceler, the leader in Microsoft SharePoint administrationand migrationsoftware, today announced record financial results for 2010 including 145 percent growth, more than doubling its year-over-year SharePoint management product revenues.  Demand for Axceler’s ControlPoint, the award-winning administration product for SharePoint, rose dramatically in 2010 as enterprises increasingly chose SharePoint as their collaboration platform.  Privately-held Axceler, which spun off from Percussion Software in 2007, continues to be profitable.

Adding to the company’s explosive growth was the addition of many new corporate customers during 2010, building on the continued demand around SharePoint governance and policy management.   New enterprise customers in 2010 included organizations such as Biogen, Krispy Kreme, Bristol-Myers Squibb, HP, Harvard Business School, Sanford Health, Cleveland Clinic, Financial Partners, University of New Hampshire, Texas Instruments, Vonage, and Yale Law School.  Axceler also continued to broaden its global market penetration with new European clients including Royal Bank of Scotland, AstraZeneca, Siemens and Credit Suisse.

WOBURN, MA– September 20, 2010 – Axceler, the leader in administration and migration software for Microsoft SharePoint, today announced the immediate availability of DavinciMigrator for SharePoint 2010, the first new product to be introduced as a result of its acquisition of echoTechnology.  DavinciMigrator for SharePoint 2010 offers comprehensive, risk-based control when moving to the latest SharePoint platform.  Davinci Migrator for SharePoint 2010 is available now from Axceler on Axceler.com.

DavinciMigrator reduces the risks, lowers the overall cost and shortens the time it takes to complete a SharePoint 2010 migration.  By helping administrators with the discovery and planning of their migrations, Davinci Migrator delivers a unique feature set to the SharePoint market by reducing the number of failed migration attempts and dramatically shortening project schedules.

“Davinci is powerful and revolutionary for three main reasons.  First, Davinci lets managers know whether the migration will succeed before the migration is done, saving precious time.  Second, Davinci provides the granular control that an enterprise needs to prioritize, plan, and execute a SharePoint migration.  And third, Davinci provides the deep SharePoint environmental analysis a migration requires to understand what’s involved ahead of time,” said Garry Smith, General Manager echoProducts.

Moving a SMF forum to a phpBB forum

Thanks to a post at OpenSourceCommunity.org, I came across a conversion tool to allow you to import the SMF 1.1 database into a phpBB 3 site. Information about the conversion tool can be found in a forum post at phpbb.com. By the way, the script is still in beta, meaning that it works but you might find some bugs since it is not fully tested.

It is not that I'm encouraging anyone to convert their site from SMF to phpBB, but it is very nice to have options such as these available. In fact if anyone can point me to a good conversion tool for migrating a phpBB database to SMF, I would welcome the information.

Vamosa Content Analysis and Migration

Owen Lovelock from Vamosa wrote to us about his company's products including the free Vamosa Community Edition. In the e-mail below he writes, "I think it would be of great interest and value to your readers and members of this site and would greatly appreciate your help in distributing the news to them".

In appreciation that he didn't post his "message" as comment spam and instead contacted us through the proper channels, I give you Mr. Lovelock's summary regarding his company's free content analysis and migration software...

At Vamosa we recently released a free version of our software - Vamosa Community Edition. It combines the functionality of our leading products Content Analyser and Content Migrator) into a single, freely downloadable content analysis and migration tool. Although Community Edition’s processing engine is limited to 1,000 unique URL’s it will:
  • Improve content quality through the removal of duplicate and out-dated content
  • Enhance content via the application of relevant metadata
  • Apply taxonomy and classification to content
  • Export all content to XML

As I said it is free to download from www.vamosa.com. The main objective of the product is to increase awareness of the issues of content analysis and migration and the benefits an automated approach can offer. In distributing our software free of charge we hope to achieve this in the wider content management community.
