mojoPortal: Help pick the next 10 mojoPortal skins
Submitted by Bryan on March 25, 2008 - 2:08am"Since releasing those 10 good looking skins the popularity of mojoPortal seemed to spike upwards fairly dramatically so I concluded that the time spent implementing those skins was well spent and the lack of good looking skins prior to that probably really was holding us back in terms of popularity...Currently we ship about 30 skins with mojoPortal, 10 of which are good looking and 20 that are just ok or mediocre, or just outdated looking. So I'm thinking its time to drop out most of the boring ones and do another round of 10 skin implementations to bring us up to 20 good looking skins."
Create Striking Themes for Drupal Websites using New Book
Submitted by shriharshb on January 18, 2008 - 1:21pmA new book that teaches users how to create themes for Drupal websites has been announced today by Packt Publishing. Written by prominent open source and Content Management expert Ric Shreves, ‘Drupal 5 Themes’ helps readers create striking new looks for their Drupal websites.
Drupal is an award winning open source Content Management System, finishing as the overall winner in the 2007 Open Source Content Management System Award. Based on PHP/MySQL, its power and flexibility combined with exceptional design, means it is already on the way to becoming the de facto standard for CMS websites. Drupal’s modular design and structured source code make it both highly flexible and easily extended and modified. Drupal is extremely scalable, making it ideal for both a simple personal website as well as an industrial strength commercial or institutional web presence.

Search, Zen, and Zengine
Submitted by Bryan on June 14, 2007 - 6:15pmI thought it might make a good quick article to explain how we're doing the [ ] search box on the new Lullabot site.
First off, the basis of this site is the Zengine theme engine...The page.zen.php that we're using in the Lullabot theme is only a slightly modified version of the original page.zen.php included with Zengine (which you can see here).
Zengine is still in early development and not quite ready for production. However, since Zengine is the Zen theme's future...I'm inclined to begin using it here at CMS Report in the near future. After all, I started CMS Report on beta software so I don't see a reason to not continue using such cutting edge software. If I can't seem to find the time to contribute code to open source, I can at least help by testing the software and submiting a ticket or two on my problems.
Top three blogs on Drupal 5.0
Submitted by Bryan on November 6, 2006 - 7:07amIf you have not heard, Drupal 5.0 went into beta last week. I had intended to write a little bit about the new features users can expect with this new version of the content management system. However, I've been so busy with a couple IT projects as well as some family events that I have not had time to even touch Drupal 5 beta 1.
Luckily, there are smarter and more dedicated people out there already posting about anything I could say about Drupal 5. The following are links to what I consider as the top three blog posts on Drupal 5.0:
- A new default theme for Drupal? by Steve Wittens
- Drupal distributions by Dries Buytaert
- Drupal 5.0 changelog by Steven Peck
Each of the posts I have listed are well worth the time spent reading if you wish to know more about the upcoming Drupal 5.
mojoPortal.com sports a new look
Submitted by Bryan on September 9, 2006 - 12:34am
Just saw a post from Joe Audette that mojoPortal.com has a new look. A Jasmin Savard created the new theme (skin). We agree with Audette, the old theme was showing its age and we wish mojoPortal the best of luck on its new look.
mojoPortal is one of the few non-PHP CMS that we keep on our radar scope. mojoPortal is written in C# and runs under ASP.NET on Windows or under mono on Linux or Mac.
Evidently there is a hunger for an open source CMS with roots in Microsoft applications because we always draw a large crowd here when we mention mojoPortal. Mentioning mojoPortal here is a lot like mentioning "Denny Crane", William Shatner's character on the show Boston Legal.
Watch this...mojoPortal. See new visitors keep coming everytime I mention the name! By the way, to mojoPortal fans...welcome to CMS Report.
