OpenCms 8.0.3 is now ready and available for download.

OpenCms is one of the most popular Open Source Content Management Solutions. This new version was developed by Alkacon Software GmbH with the support of the international OpenCms developer community.

OpenCms 8 contains a greatly improved user interface for content managers and numerous other enhancements.

With OpenCms 8.0.3, many important and useful additional features and improvements have been added to the core system and a number of issues that persisted in the 8.0.2 release have been fixed.

Alkacon Software releases OpenCms 8.0.2

Version 8.0.2 of Alkacon Software's successful open source website content management system OpenCms 8 is now ready and available for download from alkacon.com.

OpenCms 8 contains a greatly improved user interface for content managers and numerous other enhancements. Alkacon OpenCms source code now hosted on Github

Alkacon Software has moved its software repository from CVS to Github. Github is based on the popular distributed revision control system (DRCS) Git. The web-based hosting service Github is very popular amongst Open Source Developers.

Alkacon Software has chosen Git as revision control to keep its software development process based on the best available technology (since CVS is technically out-dated) and to achieve a better collaboration with the OpenCms community.

The source code of OpenCms is now available from Github at https://github.com/alkacon/opencms-core.

  • Extended support for creation of content for mobile devices with the tag.
  • A central "Shared Folder" has been added that is available from all sites for sharing content.
  • JPA support has been added to the database layer, so there's support for 10+ additional databases.

OpenCms 7.5.4 is a maintenance release that fixes a number of issues that persisted in the 7.5.3 version. Some new features have been added as well.

Call for Papers: OpenCms Days 2011 in Cologne, Germany

OpenCms Days 2011 will take place from Monday, May 09 to Tuesday, May 10, 2011 in Cologne, Germany.

Final deadline for speakers to submit their session proposals is March 01, 2011

OpenCms Days 2011 - May 09 to May 10, 2011

Session proposals are welcome. Each session will be 60 minutes long. A typical presentation session should be 45 minutes, followed by a 15 minutes discussion. Other session formats, such as workshops, roundtable discussions and BOF meetings, are also possible.

Session proposals should focus on successful OpenCms projects and should deliver a clear practical value to the audience, e.g. in the form of an OpenCms module or extension that is freely available. For example, this could be

  • Highly specialized custom versions based on OpenCms you want to share with the community
  • Module extensions and add-ons you developed
  • Successful implementation of a customer's needs in an OpenCms project

Only sessions that are of general interest for all OpenCms users are allowed. Company or product promotional sessions will be rejected.

OpenCms Days 2011 is targeted towards an international audience. The language spoken at the event will be English, and all presentations have to be held in English language, too.
