While Drupal 8 has been been under development for two and a half years, I haven't talked much about it. I learned long ago that it doesn't do much good to talk about an upcoming release of a CMS until the software crosses over from what most of us would consider "vaporware."
The Omeka team recently announced the release of Omeka 2.1. Omeka is a free, flexible, and open source web-publishing platform for the display of library, museum, archives, and scholarly collections and exhibitions. The focus of this new version of Omeka is interoperability with other systems by including an API for reading and writing information in your Omeka installation.

Matt Mullenweg recently gave his State of the Word speech at WordCamp San Francisco 2013. In the embedded video below he speaks about the WordPress project’s past and future. In the speech, the soon-to-be release of WordPress 3.6 is discussed as well as the planned releases of WordPress 3.7 and 3.8. Interestingly, there is also the discussion of the role of WordPress as blog, content management system, and application platform. Early this morning, I was one of two guests on the eZ Publish Show. The purpose of the episode was to discuss the future of content management system. I was joined by host Ivo Lukač of Netgen, and fellow guest Apoorv Durga from Real Story Group.

I became giddy as I read through it as it basically described the features of Agility in minute detail.
On my to-do list for quite some time has been wanting to talk briefly about some of the new features included in the latest release of Agility CMS. You may recall that CMS Report migrated over to Agility's Magazine Publishing Suite last Fall. So, keeping up to date on new features added to Agility CMS is not only a news story but also something of personal interest to me.

For the past few years, CMS Report has generally not posted CMS announcements for new releases which only contained bug fixes and no new additional features. So, it's been rare for us to post the "point" release announcements for Drupal as Drupal only introduces significant new features in the new full version of Drupal (such as the forthcoming Drupal 8). However, Drupal 7.22 contains a lot of minor changes so we thought it was worth talking about. Drupal 7.22 was actually released a week ago, but I didn't have time to upgrade any of my Drupal sites until this week nor look at what was actually fixed until now.

The first thing I did when I sat down to write this article was search the Google Keyword Tools for ‘Proprietary vs. Open Source CMS’. I wanted to see what kind of traffic this article might get. I got 0 searches per month globally. A flip of the terms to the title I chose nets a whopping 22. With < 10 in the United States.
My curiosity was piqued, so I checked ‘Open Source CMS’ and ‘Proprietary CMS’ and was not surprised with the 9,900 global searches for the former to 91 for the latter. This is out of 450,000 searches globally for ‘CMS’.
What I am surprised about is that more people aren’t looking for information comparing these two very different approaches to CMS.
