Yesterday afternoon, Christine from Igloo Software contacted me to dicuss a new version of their web-based social software geared toward business. This new release of Igloo is nicknamed Pearl. The Pearl release offers a number of new significant features including multilingual content, integrated social analytics, enhanced file sharing, and social content archving.
I literally get hundreds of emails from companies announcing new products and services as well as upgrades of their products. I've done this long enough to recognize when companies are just releasing new software to release new software or when they genuinely about what their product offers their customers. You can put Igloo down as "excited" for this latest version, basically because they recognize with the multilingual support their software can now literally offer global support for businesses. I prefer companies excited about their own product releases, don't you?

Igloo Expands Global Reach, Brings Multilingual Collaboration to SMBs
I am reaching out to you today to inform you that Igloo Software has unveiled their next-generation version of their collaboration suite, including support for multilingual translation. The move breaks the language barrier by enabling international teams to rapidly and accurately translate content in the language of their choice. The additions are part of Igloo’s summer release, called Pearl, and allow employees within an organization to communicate seamlessly regardless of location, time zone, device and now language.
Other major elements of the release include:
- Integrated social analytics – Igloo’s sophisticated social analytics engine is built on MicroStrategy’s fully integrated business intelligence (BI) platform. The integration embeds MicroStrategy’s reporting tools into the administrative console in Igloo in order to track user participation, influence, activity and engagement. Reports can be generated on an individual, team or community-wide basis, and can provide insight into everything from traffic to the most influential contributors.
- Cloud Content Management - Igloo’s robust file sharing capabilities have been enhanced with a more streamlined interface. Using HTML5 technologies, users may simply drag-and-drop multiple files to upload. The file size limitations have also been enhanced to support up to 2 GB. We’ve also added content archiving to increase search relevancy even while the volume of social content increases.
