Over the years, I've told people that CMS Report is a side business. While I would never become rich from this blog, I've been lucky enough to have been able to put a little extra cash in my wallet from this website's ad revenue. In truth, what has actually sustained CMS Report is not money but my passion for information systems. I absolutely love this magical process where people, hardware, software, and infrastructure come together to improve the business or organization. A decade ago, I could find no better example of information systems in the real world than the content management system.

Are industrial control and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems the new frontier, not just for cyber-crime but also for cyberwar? Until recently, when you were at war with a country, you sent in your bombers. First they hit the military targets. Once they had finished those off, they would hit infrastructure, with attacks designed to destroy industry and demoralize the civilian population.

John Stevens over at Hosting Facts posted an article and infographic that should interest website owners. Basically it comes down to this: the negatives of a slow website are too significant for you to ignore. Slow website speed have real impacts impacts on customer satisfaction. In technical terms, your conversions and advertising revenues can go down steadily without an active formulation of your website speed.

There are two things that you cannot separate when you are doing online business. These are web design and search engine optimization (SEO). The design of a website can affect its performance on the search engines severely. Every online entrepreneurs dream is to be on the first page of a search engine’s result lineup. It does not matter whether it is Bing or Google, having your website on the first page and especially among the first five results is very good for your site. This is evidence (not only to you but to all internet users) that your website is very reliable and is an authoritative source of information concerning the keywords searched.

Over half of IT professionals report they’re worried their network will suffer a data breach at the hands of a careless celebration

London, UK, 16th December, 2015 – Dealing with potential data loss will be the number one headache confronting IT professionals in the run up to the 2015 holiday season. According to the third annual “Happy Holidays?” survey from Ipswitch*, over one-third of IT professionals in the UK (36%) confirm they have had an IT user report the loss of a device holding company data following holiday celebrations in a pub, restaurant, or at a party.

After considerable thought, I've decided to deconstruct the website by tearing it apart, remove what doesn't work, and see if we have enough valued pieces left to continue our presence on the Web. I need to get to a point that I understand what new pieces need to be added in our content strategy and business model to make the website as successful in 2019 as it once was in 2009.
