It’s not easy to ignore the hype surrounding the cloud. Businesses all over the world are coming to realize that cloud computing offers numerous advantages, from more productivity and capabilities to lower costs. These benefits have lead to the growth of a wide variety of cloud providers, each offering its own unique take on services and products. The result has been a groundswell of support as organizations of all types look to the cloud for solutions to common and complex business problems.

It sound simple, give your employees the opportunity to bring their own devices to work. The company can perhaps be less aggressive in their cyclical replacements of hardware and your employee is happy because they don't have to lug around two devices, theirs and yours. I absolutely like the concept of Bring Your Own Device. But implementing BYOD and benefiting from BYOD isn't so easy. As an IT manager, it scares me that the employee's device may have control over the company's software and device. As an employee, it scares me even more that company's software could control my device and have access to my personal data. At the end of the day, this only goes well if you have established a good BYOD policy for your business.

On my "to-do list" is a mention of the availability of my In the Spotlight segment online as well as the rest of the May 2013 CMS-Connected show. One of the nice things about participating on this show with hosts Tyler Pyburn and Scott Liewehr is the chance to get to spread my wings to new CMS territory. Specific to this show, I had the opportunity to review Bridgeline Digital's iAPPS Product Suite for the very first time. Once I had a chance to get a demo and do some homework, I found I was quite impressed with this content management platform.

WOBURN, MA – According to the initial results of a Microsoft SharePoint governance survey commissioned by Axceler, a leader in SharePoint governance, administration and migration solutions, more than two-thirds of the respondents consider SharePoint governance to be extremely or very important to their organizations.  Yet nearly half of those same respondents confirmed that SharePoint governance policies do not exist or are undefined.

To be honest, I've had problems getting excited in the past about XOOPS as a CMS or as an open source community.  There just didn't seem to be a whole lot of buzz about this CMS and I was seriously thinking about dropping it from my personal "top 30 list" found to the left under "CMS Focus".
