The Importance of Design in Storytelling

Storytelling is in our genes. It’s how we share experiences with others, as we all have similar yet different stories to tell – common ground for understanding each other and forging meaningful bonds and connections.

Because of these reasons, storytelling has been a part of branding for decades but started gaining true recognition with the advancement of technology and the internet as well as with inbound marketing taking over. It’s what made design matter even more, helping the business create a unique story, with your customers and your own brand being the main characters.

How to Create a Style Guide for Your Industrial Business

No matter what type of business you run, a style guide helps solidify your brand and present a consistent image across multiple media. The style for an industrial business may vary slightly from other types of businesses. People want to know they can trust you, so consistency and reliability become even more of a factor than, say, for an e-commerce store that sells kitchen gadgets. However, some of the rules are similar.

How Complementary Colors Work in Web Design

There is an entire science behind colors and why they impact users the way they do. Designers understand some hues clash while others complement one another. Most designers are also skilled at putting a palette together that reflects the personality of the brand. Complementary colors, however, have several advantages that improve the overall impact of a design and draw users in.

Complementary shades are opposite one another on the color wheel. Red and green and blue and orange are some examples. Of course, there are hundreds of different shades within color families, so you must also consider contrast and analogous tones, which next to one another on the wheel.

Boye 19 Brooklyn: The Digital Leadership Conference

It has been a couple years since I personally promoted a conference through my websites and perhaps even longer since I've attended a conference. This was not an intentional decision by me but simply a recognition that in the past couple years I didn't find a conference I found worthy to promote. After awhile talks covering topics such as content management, digital strategy, and collaboration become noise so over time my interest in conferences waned. Then all that changed last week when Janus Boye contacted me to remind me that's he's rebooted his company and bringing his conference back to the USA.

7 Sticky Navbars Your Site Is Begging For

One trend that's been gaining momentum in recent months is the sticky navigation bar. A sticky navbar follows the user as they scroll down your page, making it easy to move to any area of your site without the need to scroll back to the top.

You have just a few seconds to make a good first impression on site visitors. If your navigation bar is easy to find and intuitive, people are more likely to form a positive image of your brand. One user experience (UX) study showed fixed navbars reduce browsing by 22 percent.

The process of developing an optimized business or personal site

On the Internet, setting up a web space for one's business projects or other trade-related reasons is undoubtedly akin to child's play. There are many kinds of services present in the online area which assert that they can develop appealing websites by using straightforward procedures. Apart from these options, a person can also choose to self-design his/her website. But if a planned approach isn't in place then building a site can become a challenging prospect.

Methods to be pursued for setting up an appropriate website

My question to Mozilla: Whose web is it anyway?

Mozilla, the makers of Firefox, just announced that they are looking to block in-page popups (also known as overlays). These are the kind of things that commonly interrupt you to ask you to sign up to newsletters or to 'Like on Facebook'. In-page popups are very different to the traditional (and much more intrusive) popups which all popular browsers now all block, something that isn't at all controversial.

Bootstrap: The Framework's What, Why, and How

A lot of people talk about Bootstrap, but you know what it's for? You may even know it as a front-end framework, but do you know who it's designed for, whether it's worth studying, or if it's something outdated? How UI/UX Design Affect Your Website Impression

UI/UX Design stands for User Interface and User Experience which plays an important role in the success or failure of a particular website. The major reason for building a website may depend on the kind of business you do which might simply be to register your name on the World Wide Web. It could be an ecommerce website that puts you on a regular search for sales, you might just feel like generating leads that will improve your traffic and make signups the basic objectives, you can as well build a website that cares for readers and you monetize it through ads and affiliate links. Introducing CMS Report "Lite"

Earlier this year we rebranded the website CMS Report to this site, socPub. The website's new identity has allowed me, article contributors, and our readers to explore topics well outside the norm of conversations surrounding content management systems. Although we're going through a bit of growing pains with establishing a new identity under socPub, I'm fully committed to this new website. The change has been good for me and I'm once again inspired to write on topics that interest me.
