Study Highlights Google’s Key Travel Industry-Specific Search Ranking Factors

SAN MATEO, Calif. (July 12, 2017) - New research from Searchmetrics identifies the important travel industry-specific search ranking factors that travel agents, airlines, hotel chains and other travel-related brands should consider in order to help improve their visibility in Google searches. 

A summary of the findings is: Travel brands rank higher by giving searchers a highly browsable experience, helping them easily gather and compare related information. They should also cover topics comprehensively, using more words and more large images, even if this means pages load a little slower. 

Website Builder: The 2017 Marketing Mobile Infographic

It's not a secret. While digital marketing on the desktop remains an important channel, it is in the mobile arena where customers are increasingly present. Over the past few months, Megan Arevalo (Community Director for websitebuilder.org) has been persistent in her requests we take a look at an infographic her team built. She claims the graphic is "chalk full of relevant and new information about mobile marketing and it highlights what a powerful impact mobile marketing has on consumers and businesses alike". After taking a look at the graphic for myself, I have to agree with Megan. It's a good graphic containing relevant information that I believe our readers would be interested in looking at too.

WordPress 4.8 introduces four new widgets

WordPress 4.8 is now available and introduces users to new content management tools including three media widgets covering images, audio and video. The "Evans" release also includes link improvements, an updated text widget that supports visual editing, and an upgraded news and events section in your dashboard. 

When Matt Mullenweg announced the release of WordPress 4.8 he mentioned that this new version was built with you in mind. While the updates seem minor, he indicated that users will find that the improvements intuitive enough that "you’ll welcome [the changes] like an old friend".

Panasonic cements position as Europe’s leading rugged mobile computing manufacturer

BRACKNELL, UK. 8TH JUNE 2017 - Panasonic has cemented its position as Europe’s leading rugged mobile computing manufacturer in the latest market analysis from VDC Research. With its Panasonic Toughbook range, the company extended its market-leading share of the European rugged notebook market with a 67% revenue share of sales in 2016. The Panasonic Toughpad tablet range continued to lead the rugged tablet market with a 56% revenue share of sales and the company’s expansion into the rugged handheld market accelerated with year-on-year growth of 176%.

I remember my first computer (the Commodore Vic-20), I remember my first programming language (BASIC), and I remember my first spam filtering software for user generated content (Akismet). But nine years ago, a new spam filtering service originally intended for Drupal called Mollom emerged and I quickly forgot about the other spam blocking software.
