White Paper: Managing Content in the Transactional Application with Movable Type

I'm very selective when it comes to promoting white papers. A white paper is a document often used as a marketing or sales tool in business. White papers are long-form content designed to promote a products or service which often use selected facts favorable to the company sponsoring the document. That use of "selected facts" bothers the natural-born scientist in me. However, every now and then you come across one of these papers that holds true, is well written, and by an author or analyst you respect.

Deep Linking and the World of Mobile Marketing

Whether you’re searching the web for the most updated news items, or you’re looking to shop on your favorite websites, deep linking has become an integral part of the internet experience. It’s a tool that allows for true convenience and fast navigation, but many people simply aren’t aware of it. Deep linking is only just starting to provide that same convenience and simplicity to mobile applications, and as the technology spreads, it is opening new avenues for mobile marketing.

Office 365 Review: Confessions of a Modern IT Guy

One of my responsibilities at Argenia is the office IT guy. More by necessity than by choice, but I don’t mind stringing cables and installing software as a break from the everyday.

Early on I saw a gap in how we handled email and managed shared files. Email was a POP service hosted by Bell Canada Business (trash) and file sharing was done on a rickety Windows XP machine with a death rattle. DropBox was being used to share files as well, but this proved costly when a virus swooped in and encrypted their files which then automatically updated their DropBox versions.

Put this one on your radar: Microweber CMS

Whenever a content management system first appears on my screen, I always look at whether the developers' initial claims are true. In this case, I'm looking at Microweber and its claim that their software offers a "new generation" CMS with "cool features and innovative concepts".  Given that most of the software development in Microweber CMS is recent, from 2012 to present, the goals and claims are ambitious. Impressively, the CMS has already been translated into seven languages so far by its contributors. As word about this CMS beings to spread globally, it's time to dig a little deeper into Microweber.

5 Common Mobile Marketing Mistakes to Avoid

As of Q4, 2013, more mobile smart devices are being purchased around the world than desktop and laptop computers. Surprised? Well, you shouldn't be. After all, how many times per day do you see someone pull out a pad or smartphone to while away a few minutes or to quickly check a fact? The simple truth is that the sale and use of mobile devices has absolutely skyrocketed in the past few years, and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. As such, marketers are making sure to take advantage of this new medium.

The Big Data IT Challenge: Giving Business Users the Data They Want

Last December, International Data Corporation presented a top ten list of technology predictions for 2014. Among those predictions, IDC claims that enterprise spending on Big Data analytics services in 2014 will increase by 21 percent over 2013, to exceed $4.5 Billion. Obviously companies are starting to recognize that their vast pools of data hold immense potential.
